Sometimes I hear "newborn sessions must be the easiest, they just sleep the whole time!" I don't fault anyone for thinking that is the case, it would seem logical that they just sleep and I pose them like a little baby doll, haha!

Newborn sessions are actually the most technical, precise, skill oriented session that I do. Not only do you need the most training to be able to photograph newborns, but you need the most patience as well. First, newborn safety is NUMBER ONE, I see so many videos of photographers doing unsafe posing techniques. Second, lighting is key. Lighting can make or break a newborn photo and they have to be posed correctly to be able to light correctly! Third, newborns rarely just sleep and let you do whatever you want, it is a constant feed and rock to sleep, paci in and paci out, game! Lastly, editing is time consuming. Below is a video of the first thing I do in my editing process... baby acne/bumps.... 🙂
